A stimulation electrode assembly for the central nervous system enabling its situating directly above a trepanation opening, consists of an oval or disc shaped body 1 having a void 2 containing a length of conductive electrode material, a portion 4 of which is drawn out therefrom directly to engage the stimulated structure, the portion being held in place by conical portions 5, 7 of the body.
