The process for printing objects with a convex or multi-faceted surface, especially cylindrical objects, with improved print quality, simpler practicability and high throughput is characterised in that first the surface of the object is coated with a plastic having an affinity for the colorant and preventing migration, then a flexible auxiliary carrier made of paper printed with heat-sublimable printing inks is laid with its printed side towards the plastics coating close to the surface of the object as a banderole, at least the banderole is heated above the sublimation temperature of the printing inks, the banderole is held during the heating fixed in its position lying close to the surface of the object and finally the fixing of the banderole is taken away and the banderole is removed.
