The method allows to transform an oscillatory motion having optionally a variable amplitude, such as a motion occurring in free piston engines, into a uniform rotation by transforming, by means of oscillations, equidirectional magnetic fields into alternating magnetic fields acting on a rotor. There are a plurality of possibilities to produce at least two phases of the field acting cyclically on the rotor. In one preferred form of execution, the oscillation of a single armature without secondary coil is used to obtain a four phase rotating field while providing a secondary oscillatory member which participates to the transformation and which is movable about an axis parallel to the oscillation direction. |
