PURPOSE:To minimize the damage of a slag receiving vessel and to reform effectively the slag in a molten state contained in said vessel by separating metal from said slag, and stirring forcibly the slag together with a reforming agent in another treatment vessel. CONSTITUTION:When the slag in a molten state from a converter is contained in a slag receiving vessel, the metal in the slag settles gradually as it has large specific gravity. A reforming agent such as fly ashes or the like is added into the molten slag under discharging. Only the slag is transferred into another treatment vessel while only the metal is allowed to remain in the slag receiving vessel in a stage for transferring the slag into a pan. The reforming agent is added to the slag in said treatment vessel and the slag is forcibly stirred with a stirrer. The damage of the treatment vessel is thus decreased and the free CaO in the slag is reformed to stable calcium silicate. |
