A lifting apparatus for ships consists of at least one buoyancy body which is designed as an air cushion and is fastened to the ship by at least one holding part. To inflate the buoyancy body it is connected to a filling device and can be arranged as required along the sides of the ship or at the ship bottom so that the ship is lifted in accordance with the filling volume of the buoyancy body.
