In this process, the medicine to be administered reacts with a biologically tolerated, biologically absorbable/biologically degradable substance, for example naturally occurring, biologically tolerated sterols, with the reaction product being very finely divided and the microparticles of this reaction product being intimately mixed in the required ratio with a portion of the medicine which has been microencapsulated with a protective layer of a biologically tolerated substance, for example ethylcellulose, and with this mixture - with or without binder - being compressed in order to produce pills (pellets) of the required shape and size. A use of naturally occurring sterols of defined molecular weight results in a controlled release rate, and a microencapsulation of the medicine facilitates slow release of the medicine over a long period.
