PURPOSE:To contrive to largely reduce weight and to increase strength, by a method wherein the entire body of a belt form chain guide capable of being projected and retracted is integrally molded from a synthetic resin material. CONSTITUTION:The chain guide 22 is constituted as a belt form body the entire body of which is integrally molded from a rigid synthetic resin material, a main body part 23 thereof is curved into a bow shape convexed toward a timing chain 15, a bearing bracket 24 is integrally and projectingly provided at a base part of the back surface, a supporting bracket 25 triangular in side view shape is projectingly provided at a central part of the back surface, and pressing pieces 26, 27 trapezoid in side view shape are projectingly provided on opposite sides in the longitudinal direction of the bracket 25. A guide surface 28 is formed in a recessed cross-sectional shape, except the part of the bracket 24, and is formed as a curved surface along the width direction over the entire length thereof, and side walls 30 extending on both sides of the timing chain 15 are provided on both sides of a central part in the longitudinal direction of the main body part 23. Accordingly, the entire body can be molded with a light weight and inexpensively, and a high strength can be obtained even though the body is molded from a synthetic resin. |
