The organic plastics material preferably comprises an organo-polysiloxane. If an epoxy resin is used, the implant is given an external coating of inert material, e.g. an organopolysiloxane. The material preferably has a porous surface. When formed into a body implant, the fibres used in forming the implant may vary in orientation according to their position in the implant.
