PURPOSE:To obtain a solid electrochemical element having the effect of an actuator by conducting electrically a three-layered structure to migrate constituting atoms from the one layer thereof through the intermediate layer to another layer, and transducing electrical energy to mechanical work. CONSTITUTION:When electric current is passed from a terminal 4 to a direction of 5, the metallic atoms constituting an ion acceptive layer 1 are ionized, and the ions pass a solid electrolyte layer 3 and arrive at an inactive conductor 2, where the ions are reduced and deposited. Since the constituting atoms of the layer 1 decrease, the volume thereof decreases and the layer contracts longitudinally. A structural body 10 curves upward. There are TiS2 and TaS2 which are adaptable as the ion acceptor. The ions to be migrated are beforehand accepted; for example, copper ions are beforehand accepted in TiS2 to make CuxTiS2 (0<x<1). There is a compd. consisting of three components; for example, RbCl, CuCl, CuI for copper ions as the solid electrolyte. |
