CATALYST FOR PREPARING MORPHOLINE

PURPOSE:To prepare the titled catalyst having high activity and high selectivity and extremely reduced in the lowering in activity with the elapse of time, by supporting Ni and Re by a baked gamma-alumina carrier obtained by subjecting the gamma-alumina to baking treatment at a specific temp. CONSTITUTION:As a method for preparing a catalyst used in preparing morpholine by reacting diethylene glycol and ammonia in the coexistence of hydrogen, baking treatment is applied to a gamma-alumina carrier within a temp. range of 700-1,000 deg.C for 2-5hr and Ni and Re are supported by the obtained baked gamma-alumina carrier. In this case, a good result is imparted when the amount of Ni and Re contained in the catalyst is usually 2-40wt% of the carrier wt. as Ni converted to a metal state and the atomic ratio of N to Re 1:0.01-1:0.3. Thus prepared catalyst has high activity and high selectivity and is extremely reduced in the lowering in activity with the elapse of time.
