摘要 PURPOSE:To perform easily a symbol input to a word processor, by converting photoelectrically light irradiating a symbol corresponding to each section of an original paper sheet with a sensor and comparing a signal of the symbol obtained with information stored in a signal processor in advance. CONSTITUTION:A photodetecting element array forming one of matrixes of photodetecting elements is arranged in matrix on a two-dimensional sensor 1 corresponding to each section of the manuscript paper 4. Further, the symbol written on the paper 4 is made incident as a shadow to the photodetecting element through the irradiation of light, and an element to which light is made incident flows a large current, and an element turned to a shadow does not flow a current, then a current coresponding to the amount of receiving light flows to the photodetecting element. Further, an element having both the shadow and the light is read as it receives light if the current is a prescribed value or over. The read signal is transmitted to a signal processor 3, where the signal is compared with bit information corresponding to many symbols stored in advance. As a result, when they are coincident, a code corresponding to the symbol is outputted.
