PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound, selectively, economically in an industrial scale, from an aqueous solution containing ethyleneamines and inorganic chlorides, by extracting the solution with an organic solvent containing carboxylic acid compound or an alkylphosphoric acid compound. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution containing ethyleneamines (abbreviated as EA) (e.g. ethylenediamine) and inorganic chlorides is made to contact with an organic solvent containing a carboxylic acid compound (e.g. natphthenic acid, pelargonic acid, etc.) or an alkylphosphoric acid compound (e.g. di-2-ethylhexylphosphoric acid, etc.) to extract EA selectively to the organic phase, and the extracted EA is recovered to an aqueous phase using an alkali (e.g. NaOH, KOH, etc.) or an acid. Inexpensive CaOH can be used in the recovery process. Since EA is concentrated 2-6 times in the extraction and recovery, the process has various advantages such as reduced energy consumption, elimination of the crystallization and separation processes, etc. |
