PURPOSE:To eliminate an air circuit exclusively used for brake by a method wherein a slant surface is formed in a piston rod and steel balls are arranged in it. CONSTITUTION:When pressurized fluid is fed from a port 52, the first piston 71 is raised and closely contacted with the second piston 72. The second piston 72 is struck against a neck 68 of a wedge 62 to cause a piston rod 56 to be raised. As the pressurized fluid is terminated to supply, the piston rod 56 is relatively and slightly descended, a slant surface 66 of a wedge part 62 pushes steel balls 84 and a cylinder 86 outwardly under a wedge action to cause a brake ring 80 to be pushed against the inner surface of a cylinder tube 50 and then a braking operation is actuated. When a pressurized fluid is applied from a port 54, the fourth piston 74 is descended and closely contacted with the third piston 73, and at the same time, a part of the pressurized fluid passes through a passage 94 and enters a space 76. Then, the first piston 71 is lowered until it is abutted to the head part 93 of a rod. When the second piston 72 pushes up the neck 68 up to the same level as a lower bottom surface 83, the brake is released and the piston rod 56 is descended. |
