The angular displacement sensor has a body (1) in which is formed a bore (3) which emerges in an internal chamber (6). In the internal chamber (6) is mounted a drum (9) which can move in rotation under the action of a measurement arm integral with the shaft (8). On the surface of the drum (9) is fixed one of the ends of a metal strip (11) whose other end is integral with a slide (10) which can move in translation in the bore (3). The slide acts on the end of a feeler (19) of a linear displacement measurement instrument which fits into the bore (3). For example, an angular rotation of the drum (9) through 1 degree is converted to a linear displacement of 0.1 mm of the slide (10), this displacement itself being measured by means of any linear displacement measurement instrument of conventional type to which the sensor can be fitted. <IMAGE>
