Continuous winch with two discs, one of which is driven and with a multi-grooved construction, has a run-off groove for the unloaded cable where the unloaded cable can be tensioned in the run-off groove transverse to the run-off direction. Specifically, the run-off groove is bounded on one side by a tensioning plate which is spring-loaded in the tensioning direction. As tensioning spring a plate spring package is used and the tension springs can be pre-tensioned. The holding of the run-off cable or rope in the run-off groove does not hinder the running off but as soon as a load is applied the automatic pretensioning of the rope on the disc ensures the desired friction coupling between disc and rope.
