PURPOSE:To assure the arraying of optical fibers, by pressing the one or two sides of a tape fiber right after emergence from a cross head of an extruder with revolving rolls provided with cooling means. CONSTITUTION:A tape fiber 7 right after emergence from a cross head 4 is pressed from the two sides with revolving rolls 8, and if the gap between the two rolls is set at a desired tape thickness, optical fibers 1 can be forcibly arrayed to one row. Since the rolls 8 have cooling means, the tape fiber 7 is cooled, by which the curing of the covering resin is accelerated and there is no possibility of the collapsion in the arrangement of the fibers. A suitable interfacial release agent may be supplied from 9 in order to prevent the adhesion of the coating resin of the tape and the rolls at the contact faces of the rolls and the tape. |
