PURPOSE:To display video, by using a liquid crystal display device having a non-linear element as a main constituting element, and using a simple driving circuit. CONSTITUTION:An MIM (metal-insulator-metal) element as the nonlinear element is formed in the junction part between a metallic electrode 15 having the surface oxidized and a coupling metallic electrode 17. An upper substrate transparent electrode 13 is used as a scanning electrode, and the metallic electrode 15 and a picture element transparent electrode 16 are used as signal electrodes. The part where one picture element, namely, one scanning electrode and one signal electrode crossing each other consists of an equivalent capacity (CM)22 of the nonlinear element, an equivalent resistance (RM)21, a capacity (CL)24 of a liquid crystal layer, a resistance (RL)23, and a wiring resistance (RK)25 to the picture element. This RM is nonlinear type and is changed by an applied voltage. Thus, video is displayed. |
