PURPOSE:To attain to prolong the life of the titled densitometer, by using an acidic electrolyte based on butyric acid to prevent the reception of influence due to carbon dioxide. CONSTITUTION:In the titled densitometer consisting of an anode 1 comprising a metal having high activity in the reduction of oxygen, a cathode comprising lead, an electrolyte and an oxygen permeable diaphragm 4, as the electrolyte 3, a mixed aqueous solution comprising n-butyric acid, a lead compound and, further, an alkali metal salt or an ammonium salt of an organic acid such as formic acid, acetic acid, propionic acid, butyric acid, maleic acid or glutanic acid is used. When oxygen in a gas to be detected is permeated through the diaphragm 4 to reach the surface of specific reaction is generated at the anode 1 and a current corresponding to the amount of permeated oxygen is flowed to the cathode 2 from the anode 1. Therefore, by measuring voltage at both ends of a resistor 7, the passing amount of oxygen, that is, the concn. thereof can be known. |
