PURPOSE:To improve the yield of the titled compound in the oxidation of cyclohexanone compound in the presence of water and an iron compound, by carrying out the reaction in the presence of an organic nitrogen compound using oxygen as the oxidizing agent. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of formula II is prepared by oxidizing the cyclohexanone compound of formula I (R is H or alkyl) with oxygen under atmospheric or positive pressure in the presence of water, an iron compound and an organic nitrogen compound at 0-200 deg.C, preferably 30-90 deg.C. The organic nitrogen compound is e.g. amines, especially tert-amines, e.g. triethylamine, pyridine base such as 4-picoline, etc., and its amount is preferably 10-300mol% in terms of nitrogen based on iron. The amount of the iron compound is preferably 1-30mol% in terms of iron based on the cyclohexanone compound. The amount of water is preferably about 0.1-100 times weight of the cyclohexanone compound. |
