1442663 Engine casings; silencing H LIST 16 Oct 1973 [27 Oct 1972] 48159/73 Heading F1B An I.C. engine 1 has a sound proofing casing 2 attached by sound proofing annular elements 8, 8' located in circular openings in the casing each annular element comprising an outer ring 3, 3' a coaxial central sleeve 5 and an annulus 4 of resiliently deformable sound proofing material, the annular elements being connected to the engine by bolts 6 extending through the sleeves 5. The sound proofing material is preferably an intermediate curve rubber. The outer ring 3' has a collar 3" by means of which the element may be screwed, glued or soldered to the casing 2. A cap 7 engaging the casing wall or the outer ring covers the head of bolt 6. In Fig. 2 (not shown) brackets (9) are provided to attach the engine to a mounting (not shown) with interposed sound proofing elements (11). The bolts 6 may be hollow to provide means to connect an oil pressure gauge, auxiliary machines or a speedometer to the engine. |
