PURPOSE:To prevent double-feed of sheets by disposing a friction clutch in a power transmission path for a reversing roller. CONSTITUTION:A sheet feeder includes a feed roller 9 coupled to a driving portion and a reversing roller 12 coupled to the driving portion through a friction clutch 19. When a sheet 6 is fed by the feed roller 9, the frictional force between the sheet 6 and the reversing roller 12 is large, so that the friction clutch 19 slips, and the reversing roller 12 follows the feed roller 9 to be rotated to feed the sheet 6. When a plurality of sheets are drawn out in the overlapping state, the frictional force between the sheets is smaller than the frictional force between the feed roller 9 and the sheet 6 to decrease load received by the reversing roller 12 from the sheet, so that the reversing roller 12 gets power of the driving portion through the friction clutch 19 to be reversed, which results in pushing back the second and following sheets to reliably prevent double-feed of sheets. |
