PURPOSE:To improve battery performance and its operatitive life through prevention of gas leak and contact between respective reactive gases by welding a pressing piece on the manifold fitting collar in the stacking direction and by energizing such pressing piece by pressing it in the sealing surface direction with a pressurizing means. CONSTITUTION:In respective manifolds 3 and 4, pressing pieces 9 formed like a trapezoid are previously welded opposing to each other on the right and left fitting collars 6. These pressing pieces 9 are provided in one pair respectively at the upper and lower portions and particularly at the upper, intermediate and lower portions in case stacking is carried out for many stages, and the pressing surface can be expanded by widely opening the base end of these pressing pieces. Each manifold can be fixed as follow. First, the upper and lower fixing collars 5, 5 are tightened to the upper and lower end plates 1, 1 of stack with a bolt 8 through a sealing member 7. Thereafter, the iron bridging members 10, 10 are engaged on the pressing pieces 9, 9 on the right and left fixing collars, for the manifolds 4, 4 of the introducing and exhausting sides of the one reaction gas, for example, hydrogen and a tightening nut 12 is screwed to a connecting bar 11 which connects together both end portions of these pair of bridging members 10, 10. Thereby, the fixing collars 6, 6 in the stacking direction are pressed toward the sealing surface through the pressing pieces 9, 9. |
