The present invention relates to a feed device for a machine working on a web of material at rest, this web being continuously delivered upstream of the machine, by passing between a pair of delivery rollers rotating at a constant speed and forming, between this upstream pair of delivery rollers rotating at a constant speed and a pair of feed rollers disposed at the input of the machine and rotating intermittently, a reserve loop hanging freely. This device is characterised in that it comprises two lateral and vertical flanges 7 disposed on either side of the loop 3a, in the immediate vicinity of the latter, and an upper closure plate 8 extending between the two flanges 7, above the loop, so as to close off, in a regulatable manner, the upper orifice delimited between the upper portions of the two lateral and vertical flanges 7. <IMAGE>
