The unit is used to obtain HV pulses from an integrated supply source and feed them to the electric fence wires. It comprises a two-part housing (1,2), the bottom part (1) of which contains the supply source, e.g. a battery and has an earthing pin (7) forced into the ground fitted to the base. The upper part (2) has a support plate, supported by integral resilient mountings, to which the printed circuit and/or a transformer is attached. The upper part (2) also has a hinged cover (5) enclosing the operating controls and a handle (3) allowing it to be lifted free of the bottom part (1). The support plate within the upper part (2) is designed as a removable module to allow the unit to be repaired in situ without use of special tools, its mountings helping protect it against shock etc., with the enclosing housing (2,3) being of robust construction.
