PURPOSE:To prevent the inclusion of slag, etc. into molten metal, the early solidification of molten metal, etc. by adding a heat insulating material of an exothermic type into a vessel at the end period for charging the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:A heat insulating material of an exothermic type is charged into a vessel 4 such as a tundish at the end period of charging when the amt. of the molten steel remaining in the vessel 4 decreases. A material consisting of components that generate large quantity of heat during oxidation, such as Al and Ca, is used as said exothermic type heat insulation material. The molten metal 2 in the vessle 4 is cast into a casting mold 7 until it flows fully down into the mold, then a billet 8 is removed. Since the final discarding amt. of the billet 8 is reduced by the above-mentioned charging method, the amt. of the solidified metal in the vessel 4 is reduced and the yield is improved. |
