The actual driving tool comprises a rigid elongate body having a lower part, the cross-section of which corresponds substantially to that of the passage of the dowel, an upper part intended for interacting with a member for exerting a driving force and a projecting central part. The removable sleeve comprises: a first 1 and a second 2 end part, the inner cross-sections of which are identical to the respective cross-sections of the free lower end B of the tool and of the region of connection of the lower part to the central part G, whilst the outer cross-sections are variable from one sleeve to another and correspond, for each sleeve, to the inner cross-section of the passage F of a particular dowel; and an intermediate part 3 provided with longitudinal recesses or depressions 30, 31, 32, the said second end part 2 being equipped, at its free edge, with a collar 20 engaging into the central annular recess T which the bearing surface formed by the said projecting central part possesses. <IMAGE>
