The wiper comprises a scraper blade (34) and at least one armature (10, 26) which is intended to be attached to an arm pivotingly mounted on the vehicle and which supports the scraper blade (34) optionally through at least one compensation bar (30). At least one armature (10, 26) and/or at least one compensation bar (30) are provided with a deflector-screen (70, 100, 140) which projects in the direction of the scraper blade (34). The armatures and/or compensation bars may also have a protuberant spine (24, 64, 94, 134) opposite to the direction of the scraper blade (34). The device may be used in windshield blades for motor vehicles.
