PURPOSE:To promote sublimability and enhance resistance to environments, by a method wherein a transfer body comprising a basic sublimable dye is selectively heated in the condition of being faced to an image-receiving body comprising an electron-acceptive substance, whereby an image is formed on the image- receiving body. CONSTITUTION:In accordance with the quantity of heat generated at a heater part 6 correspondingly to an image signal, a basic sublimable dye is transferred onto an image-receiving layer 3 by sublimation or melting, is diffused into the layer 3 and reacts with an electron-acceptive substance to form a color. In this case, the sublimed or melted dye is attracted to the image-receiving layer 3 and is diffused into the layer 3 through a chemical reaction with the electron-acceptive substance. Accordingly, since the dye is transferred to the side of the layer 3 through the chemical reaction, sublimability is promoted as compared with the case in which no chemical reaction is involved. In addition, since the dye thus transferred is not only dispersed simply to the side of the layer 3 but is accompanied by the chemical reaction, the image formed has excellent resistance to environments. |
