PURPOSE:To measure the viscosity of a fuel oil blended with a low-quality heavy oil accurately by gaging the flow rate of a sample liquid flowing through two tubules with the lowering of a piston after the tubules are connected at specified positions of the inner cylinder of a double cylinder having the piston. CONSTITUTION:A piston 4 is inserted into a double cylinder comprising an outer cylinder 1 and an inner cylinder 2 and a driving mechanism 5 and a speed measuring mechanism 7 are provided on the upper portion thereof. The inner cylinder 2 is provided with two tubules 3a and 3b connected to positions adjacent to terminal plates 2F and 1F. A sample liquid flows from an intake port 11 and as the piston 4 is lowered, it is injected into a space 9 through the tubule 3a from the inner cylinder 2 while the liquid is poured into the inner cylinder 2 through the tubule 3b. The current piston speed is detected with the mechanism 7 to determine the flow rate of the tubule per unit time and the viscosity is obtained by Hangenpaiseville's equation. This enables the accurate measurement of the viscosity even for a fuel oil blended with a low quality oil without causing a ripple. |
