A picture-tube socket with an insulating material body in which contact elements are accommodated, at least one of which makes contact via a plug connection with a cable which is inserted through an opening provided in the insulating material body and is anchored in the insulating material body such that it is relieved of tension. It is intended to achieve a problem-free plug connection in combination with effective tension-relief of the cable. To this end, a conventional contact spring is provided for the plug connection, while the tension-relief of the cable is effected in that the unobstructed width of the cable insertion opening has an internal space which expands slightly and has a groove running at right angles to the insertion direction of the cable, in which space a bolt is guided which is clamped between the cable and the inclined rear wall of the groove when tension is applied to the cable. <IMAGE>
