The invention relates to a roller on a continuous conveyor with a belt which bears an inflatable covering as support. During operation, flexing work leads to a stretching and compressing of the covering causing impurities and incrustations to break up and flake off; the roller is therefore self-cleaning. It also has good noise-reducing characteristics and produces little noise during operation.
