Reliable response of the safety belt for impacts of 600-800 kgf using belts of 50 mm width is ensured by simplified shock absorber of enhanced reliability. It includes a flexible tape with two layers formed by bending it over and linking by intermeshing loops which can be unravelled only by pull in the direction opposite to the impact load. The two layers of the tape can be sepd. by destroying the intermeshed loops. which take place progressively at a rate determined by the selection of loops height, their strength, spacing and by the number of rows. The loops are between the ground fabric structure loops and their connectors have different lengths with weft density increasing in the direction from the longer connector end to the shorter one. The break of loops is controlled by a clip attached to the support with the load applied at the start of the knitting. After the destruction of the shock absorbing loops, the load is taken up by the flexible tape at the spot where it is bent over in the fold. The tape is formed with the ground warp yarns (4) and wefts (6) interspersed with the shock absorbing yarn loops (5) tied by the weft (6). The link to the ground is provided by connectors (7,8) of different lengths.
