PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency for joining a photosemiconductor and an optical fiber even if a package contg. auxiliary circuits is used simultaneously by forming the surface of a window part facing oppositely to a light emitting part or photodetecting part into a convex lens and providing the same in the recess of the package. CONSTITUTION:A window part 32 is a convex lens wherein the semispherical face having the radius of curvature roughtly equal to the diameter of an optical fiber 42 in the plug 41 of an optical connector is formed only on the surface facing oppositely to an LED19, PIN-PD 23, and part of a shell 27 which is a part of the package is formed in a recess so that even if a plug 41 contacts with the shell the part 32 does not contact therewith. Since the shell 27 has the height having no contact with a bonding wire near the bonding wires of ICs 20, 24, etc., the shell is kept free from contact and deformation. Even if the bonding wires from the LED19 and pin-PD23 contact with the part 32, there are no problems as the window part is an insulation member. |
