Method for adjusting a film resistor

In order to adjust a film resistor which is arranged between two electrodes (2), a sub-region of the resistance film (3) is separated with a cut (5) which is initially made from an edge of the resistance film (3) at right angles to the current path close to one electrode (2) and extends at least approximately over the length of the resistance film (3) in the direction of the current path, and is subsequently guided back to the edge (4). The width of the sub-region to be separated is determined by an electrical measuring and control device. In order that there does not have to be any pick off on the resistance film during adjustment of the resistance film, the total resistance value at the electrodes (2) is measured at the start, and the depth of the first partial cut (5) is defined from this in the ratio of the total resistance to a predetermined resistance value. The subsequent partial cut (6) is made at the same depth, parallel to the edge (4), at least over a partial length of the resistance film (3), and then back to the edge (4). <IMAGE>
