PURPOSE:To provide a composite material capable of retaining an air conditioning action such as mothproofing or rust-proofing over a long period of time, by mixing a porous high-molecular material powder having wetting and water absorption properties with silica gel powder, compression-molding the mixture into a porous article and impregnating the article with atmospheric air conditioning agents. CONSTITUTION:The powder of a porous high-molecular material having wetting and water absorption properties is mixed with silica gel powder. The mixture is compression-molded to prepare a porous article which is then fired at a temp. not higher than the decomposition temp. of the water of crystallization of silica gel. The resultant wettable porous article is impregnated with air conditioning agents such as sublimable or vaporizable reagents such as an aromatic, a mothproofing agent, a rust inhibitor, an antifungal agent, etc. to retain them in the pores of the high-molecular material and at the same time to adsorb them on the surface of silica gel, whereby the vaporization rate of the air conditioning agents is inhibited and the desired composite material having an air conditioning action can be obtd. A container made from this material has air conditioning properties such as rust inhibiting, mothproof, moisture proof properties, or hygroscopicity. |
