摘要 PURPOSE:To improve efficiency of charge by the quantity sent in through an auxiliary air intake passage after closing a main air intake valve by closing an auxiliary air intake valve later than the main air intake valve. CONSTITUTION:When an engine comes to an intake stroke, a main air intake valve 7 is opened in the same way as that of a conventional engine and mixed gas is inhaled from a main air intake passage 5 during a lowering stroke of a piston 4. When the piston 4 is brought to the end of the lowering stroke, an auxiliary air intake valve 8 is opened and the intake is performed from both the main and the auxiliary air intake valves. When the piston 4 turns to an elevating stroke, the main air intake valve 7 is closed at 45 deg. after the lower dead center of the crank angle, while the auxiliary air intake valve 8 is closed at 60 deg. likewise. When the main valve 7 is closed, since a large quantity of the main air intake current is stopped at one time, surging pressure is caused in an air intake passage adjacent to the main air intake valve 7. The surging pressure is a little higher than the pressure of mixed gas under compression in a cylinder 2, and the mixed gas is forced into an engine chamber 1 through the auxiliary air intake valve 8.
