Apparatus is described for removal of fine dust from highly polluted gases and gas mixtures, in the housing of which apparatus filter tubes of a porous material are provided, further having an apparatus for regenerating the filter tubes, an inlet connection for the gas to be cleaned, a dust collection chamber and an outlet for the gas, and with the aim of preventing more effectively than hitherto deposition of the solid particles on the surface of the filter tubes and accelerating the removal of these particles to a collection hopper, a compressor or a suction fan is arranged at a first end of the housing for the dust gas mixture in such a manner that the direction of flow of the dust gas mixture along the filter tubes is essentially directed in the direction of gravity.
