PURPOSE:To prevent a decrease of capacity and stably obtain the capacity, by improving diffusion of dilute sulfuric acid from a paper unit to the inside of a plate. CONSTITUTION:If a material formed to a gel state by sulfuric acid, for instance, water glass is applied to a surface of a plates 1, 3 or a surface of a paper unit 2, the water glass, being liquid simultaneously of high viscosity, never intrudes into a hole of the plates 1, 3 but forms a film with the surface, further said film removes ruggedness of the plates 1, 3 to form a smooth surface. Such treatment is applied to the plates 1, 3 and the paper unit 2, and these plates and unit constitute an element, then if an electrolyte of dilute sulfuric acid is injected, the water glass is changed to a gel state. The water glass formed to a gel state is buried in a clearance between the plate 1, 3 and the paper unit 2, further dilute sulfuric acid is held also in the gel of the clearance, and the dilute sulfuric acid is smoothly diffused from the paper unit 2 to the inside of the plates 1, 3 at electric discharge time, in consequence discharge capacity is left not to be decreased. Also when the water glass is applied to the surface of the paper unit, a similar effect is observed. |
