PURPOSE:To make an air bag act reliably at the time of collision of an automobile and to simplify a device, by a method wherein a piston cylinder is provided between a first and a second bumper and a compressed air cylinder is made to connect with the air bag through displacement of the piston. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder 3 is installed on a first bumper 1. A rod 7 of a piston 4 is installed on a second bumper 2. A piston 4 is fitted to the cylinder 3, which are energized in a forward direction by a spring 6. A recessed part is provided on the piston 4 and a hole is formed on the cylinder 3. When the second bumper 2 is shocked, the recessed part of the piston 4 coincides with the hole part of the cylinder 3 by moving the piston 4 and a compressed air cylinder 11 is connected with an air bag 16. Compressed air 12, therefore, is led into the air bag 16 and the air bag 16 is inflated instantaneously. When a stop valve 13 is closed and an exhaust cock 14 is opened, thereafter, the compressed air in a pipe 10 and the air bag 16 is exhausted. |
