PURPOSE:To simplify the configuration of a main circuit of a GTO and to enalbe to accurately monitor it by monitoring the maximum value of an OFF gate current of small current value. CONSTITUTION:OFF gate current iG is detected at a GTO 1 through an OFF gate current circuit 2 to monitor the maximum value iGP. The prescribed relationship of iA=K.iGP exists between the anode current immediately before the interruption, i.e., the interrupting current iA and the OFF gate current iGP when the K represents a constant. Accordingly, the interrupting current iA of the GTO 1 can be monitored by monitoring the maximum value iGP of the OFF gate current IG and multiplying it by the K. |
