In a hydraulic regulator in a V-belt type continuously variable transmission for vehicles, a regulator valve 61 supplied with input hydraulic pressure from a pump 52 controls the line pressure as output hydraulic pressure 1 depending on the throttle opening, which acts on control valve means 64, 65, the reduction ratio between the input and output shafts of the V-belt type continuously variable transmission, which is detected by a feedback valve 66 actuated by a movable flange of the output pulley and effects the stepwise control of the pressure, and the shift position of a manual selector valve 62. As the line pressure is close to the minimum value needed, power loss in the oil pump as well as fuel consumption are reduced. A solenoid- controlled valve 80 effects automatic control of ratio and a valve 70 controls establishment of forward/reverse drive. <IMAGE> |
