The system firing high velocity projectiles uses an explosive charge with an open cavity (6) formed in the end adjacent to the projectile (5). The cavity is filled with a substance which may be liquid, pasty, or deformable, or which is capable of becoming liquid, pasty, or deformable at the instant of the projectile firing. The substance may consist of a viscous liquid, a grease or oil, or a paste or a fusible or deformable material, or a combination of two or more such substances. |
