PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency in welding work in the stage of welding a tip member to the end face of a valve member for an internal combustion engine by performing a welding stage while a turntable provided with four holding parts on the outside circumferential part is kept turned. CONSTITUTION:A tip member 6 of a martensitic steel having high hardness and hardenability is welded to the stem end part 1c of a valve member made of a heat resistant austenitic steel for an internal combustion engine. The welding work is accomplished by turning intermittently a turntable 21 provided with four holding parts 22 on the outside circumferential part thereof and moving the parts 22 to the 1st-the 4th home positions P1-P4. More specifically, the member 1 is supplied to the part 22 from a supply device C at P1 and the member 6 is placed on the part 1c of the valve member at P2. Both are welded with an electric resistance welder E at P3 and the welded valve member is removed at P4. The tip member is welded to the valve member with high working efficiency. |
