PURPOSE:To determine sugar directly without separating blood cells and plasma, by adding dropwise a titrated amount of blood sample into a physiological salt solution. CONSTITUTION:Phosphoric acid buffer solution A for reservation, glucose solution B, phosphoric acid buffer solution C for washing, and physiological salt solution D for measuring blood are disposed through pieces of diaphragms 15 stepwise and integratedly as one body in a cylindrical cell 10 for measuring sugar in blood. Calibration is carried out readily by cutting away with a round cutter 5 a piece of said diaphragm 15 between the phosphoric acid buffer solution A and the glucose solution B to mix together both solutions. After calibration, the used calibration liquid is removed through an outlet 12 by taking off a stopper 6 for discharging calibration liquid. Then, an oxygen sensor Y is washed with the phosphoric acid buffer solution C by cutting away the lower piece of the diaphragm 15 with the round cutter 5. After washing, the used phosphoric acid buffer solution C is removed by taking off a stopper 7. Then the stopper 7 is attached again, and the oxygen sensor Y is immersed in the physiological salt solution D, which is almost equivalent to the blood, by cutting away the lowest piece of the diaphragm 15 which contains the physiological salt solution D. The glucose concentration in a blood sample 14 is determined by adding dropwise the blood sample 14 to the physiological salt solution D directly with the use of a quantitative microsyringe 13 or a pipetite. |
