PURPOSE:To prevent the discoloration of a composition contaning ispaghula husk known as a purgative, laxative peptic, health food, etc., effectively, by adding sulfurous acid, peroxide, ascorbic acid, cysteine, etc. to the composition. CONSTITUTION:A composition containing ispaghula husk which is the seed husk of broad-leaved plantain of Indian growth (plantage ovata Forsk) and containing skin and small amount of embryo, is compounded with an additive selected from sulfurous acid, pyrosulfuric acid, erythorbic acid, their salts, peroxide, ascorbic acid, ascorbic acid stearate, sorbic acid, dibutylhydroxytoluene, cysteine and its salt. The amount of the additive is preferably 0.1-5wt% for suflurous acid (salt), pyrosulfuric acid (salt) and peroxide, and 0.5-20wt% for other organic additive. |
