<p>PURPOSE:To detect shapes at good accuracy with a simple construction by detecting the differences in tension owing to the undulation condition of a strip under rolling as the quantities of deflection of elastic materials. CONSTITUTION:Rings 11 which are disposed in a plurality with their outside circumferences being pressed in the surface width direction of a strip 6 under traveling by being applied with tension are inserted with a multiplicity of cylindrical springs in parallel with a shaft 8 between the shaft 8 which penetrates the rings 11 and is suported rotatably at both ends. Gap detectors 7 which detect the change in a gap G are disposed via the gap on the side of the rings 11 not in contact with the strip 6. The differences in the components of force of the tension owing to the undulations of the strip 6 exerted to the rings 11 are converted to the quantities of deflection of the cylindrical springs 20 inserted between the rings 11 and the shaft 8 and these quantities of deflections are captured as the quantities of deviation of the rings 11 from the axial center of the shaft 8. Said quantities of deflection are detected as the quantities of change of the gap G. The signals of the quantities of change of the respective detectors 7 are transmitted as the shape signals integrated in an arithmetic device 51 to a rolling control unit 52.</p> |
