PURPOSE:To make it possible to accurately detect flaws by such an arrangement wherein drive pulses are impressed on an arbitrary one of plural vibrating elements composing an array type ultrasonic flaw detector and the presence or absence of reflected waves received by each of other vibrating elements and their receiving time are processed. CONSTITUTION:An array type ultrasonic flaw detector 101 wherein plural vibrating elements 1011, 1012... are arranged in a row is brought to tighly contact with the surface of an item A to be inspected. Drive pulses are impressed to an arbitrary vibrating element selected by a selection circuit 103 by an oscillation circuit 102, and the element is caused to oscillate ultrasonic waves. Ultrasonic waves reflected by the back of the item A to be inspected or a flaw are received by each of vibrating elements 1011, 1012,... and they are temporarily memorized in a scanning circuit 104, scanned in sequence and sent to a signal processing circuit 105. The circuit 105 obtaines the presence or absence of reception of reflected waves and receiving time by each vibrating element, and causes a display mechanism 106 to display the data. |
