PURPOSE:To separate magnetic flocs to recover the magnetic component and the non-magnetic component thereof, by a method wherein a current is supplied to an exciting coil to carry out backwashing and the supply of a current is subsequently cut off to carry out backwashing. CONSTITUTION:At the time of backwashing, a current is supplied to an exciting coil 7 to form a magnetic field and, in this state, backwashing water in a backwashing water pressure tank 12 is passed through a magnetic filter 1 from the outflow port 3 thereof by compressed air from an air tank 14 or the supply of water is cut off and this operation is repeated. By this manipulation, magnetic flocs collected by filter media 5 are separated into a non-magnetic component and a magnetic component and the latter remains in the filter media 5 while the non-magnetic component is collected by a non-magnetic component recovery pit 15 along with backwashing water. In the next step, the supply of a current to the exciting coil 7 is cut off and backwashing water is introduced into the magnetic filter 1 from an inflow port 3 to collect the magnetic component remaining in the filter media 5 as a backwashing slurry containing said magnetic component by a magnetic component recovery pit 15a. |
