PURPOSE:To make a level of the molten metal constant and to enhance level detecting accuracy, by using a float, whose durability is maintained by a gas cooling method, and directly detecting the level of molten metal in a mold. CONSTITUTION:In casting operation, the level of molten metal in a mold is outputted as an electric signal A by a level detector 16 through a float. When the electric signal A can be transmitted, the input signal A from the level detector 16 and an input signal B from a control level setter 19 are compared and operated by a comparing operator 17. Based on the difference, a control signal C is transmitted to a control device 20. When the level of the molten metal is higher than a preset level and the constant speed casting is performed, a signal (a) is sent to a controller 22 and a sliding nozzle of a tundish is squeezed. In the operation other than this, a signal (c), which expedites the casting speed is sent to a controller 26 through a pinch roll, and the level of the molten metal is returned to the preset level. |
