PURPOSE:To prevent the embrittlement of seats for bolts and nuts for conjoining a cap to the body of a connecting rod, facilitate the manufacture of the rod from light alloy and improve the productivity, by making the rod body and the cap from light alloy and placing the bolt and nut seats in prescribed positions. CONSTITUTION:A connecting rod comprises a body 2 having a wrist pin hole 1, and a cap 3 clamped on the body by bolts 4 and nuts 5. The rod body 2 and the cap 3 are made of light alloy of aluminum or the like. Seats 8 for the nuts 5 and the bolts 4, which extend at both the sides of a crankpin hole 6, are placed outside tangents TL on the hole, namely, above or below the tangents. As a result, the line of the shortest distance between the crankpin hole 6 and each of the corners E where the seats 8 for the bolts 4 and the nuts 5 on the rod body 2 and the cap 3 are located is not near the direction of stress concentration in the corner E. For that reason, the seats 8 are prevented from being embrittled due to the corners E. This leads to the facilitation of the manufacture of the connecting rod from light alloy. |
